Directors
The company is managed by a Board of four volunteer Directors who are managing and guiding the company through its formation into a sustainable business model.

Phil Cox
Chairman
Phil Cox commenced his career in the shipping and transport industry before working for the NSW Government, in various senior management roles, over a period of almost 20 years. In 1991 he joined TAFE NSW where he held Senior Executive positions until 2015.
Mr Cox joined the HVTC Board in 2015 and appointed as Deputy Chair in 2021. He is active in the VET sector as a consultant and strategic advisor working with various industry and training organisations.
Phil is a Foundation Director of 10 Class Locomotives Limited.

Kay Sharp AM
Director
Mrs Sharp started her career as a stenographer with the Maitland City Council before running her own secretarial bureau and accepting a position as Mr Morris’s electoral secretary.
She retired from the political arena in February 1981 and joined HVTC in June of that year as CEO. Mrs Sharp took up a position on the HVTC Board of Directors in 2002. She retired in May 2019.
Kay is a Foundation Director of 10 Class Locomotives Limited.

Warren Hedley
Director
Warren started his working life as an apprentice carpenter in the Newcastle area. For over 30 years he has worked in the private sector as a manager of various companies and operations manager for a diverse group of companies.
For the past 12 years Warren has been the manager of South Maitland Railways.
Warren is a Foundation Director of 10 Class Locomotives Limited.

Martin Coates
Director
As a boy, Martin clearly remembers the excitement of watching steam engines pass through Waratah Station, not far from his family home. After attending Newcastle Boys High School, Martin held a range of positions in private enterprise and government. These include GIO, Telstra, City of Newcastle (Director) and Defence Housing Australia (Regional Director). Martin holds numerous qualifications including a Master of Business from the University of Newcastle

Jackie Bower
Public Officer
Jackie Bower commenced her career with HVTC in February 2000 as Financial Assistant. She has undertaken a variety of roles including Group Accountant, Assistant Accountant and working closely with HVTC’s Chairman, the late Honourable Milton Morris AO and Executive Director Mrs Kay Sharp AM.
Her current position is HVTC’s Assets and Procurement Team Leader.
Jackie is the Public Officer of 10 Class Locomotives Limited.

John O’Hearn
Finance and Policy Officer
John O’Hearn commenced his career in Finance in the Utilities sector and has extensive leadership and senior management experience.
John works on a casual basis for HVTC on specialist projects.
John is providing Finance and Policy advise to 10 Class Locomotives Limited.
