The purpose of the 10 Class Locomotive Limited Company is to establish a sustainable financial model that preserves, promotes, and makes available the 10 Class Locomotives for future generations to enjoy and experience.
Short Term
To enter a commercial arrangement with a strategic partner or partners that would allow refurbishment of the Locomotive Number 18 to a fully operational mode, making it available for use in the community.
This could include strategic alliances with other groups or organizations or events that align with the direction and purpose of the 10 Class Locomotive Company. This would provide the opportunity for the Company while in its early stages of development to leverage the profile, experience, and resources of other entities.
Specific packages of work that have been scoped and need to be undertaken include:
- Springing and Resetting
- Rear Axle Repairs & Ashpan Modifications
- Boiler wash out and inspection
- General refurbishment, maintenance, and repairs
Medium Term
To develop opportunities to show case Locomotive Number 18 through events, educational tours, tourist trips etc.
To refurbish Locomotive Number 10:
- Repair Fire Box
- Replace Crown Stays
- Reset springs and adjust height
- General refurbishment, maintenance, and repairs
Longer Term
To have developed a strong base of sponsors, donors, supporters and partners and a sustainable cash flow that would support:
- establishing a museum or collaborating with existing museums, focused on the Locomotives for the education and enjoyment of the community and school groups and
- a regular demand for hiring and utilizing the Locomotives.
