On 4th June, the Maitland community joined us to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the end of Steam Coal Haulage and learn about our two heritage steam locomotives.
It was great to see so many members of the community at our event earlier this month to support the restoration project, with works set to commence on No.18 this month. Attendees also had the opportunity to inspect and learn about locomotives No. 10 and 18, as well as visit the Maitland Rail Museum.
Check out the below video to learn more about the event.
Former employees of South Maitland Railway also joined us at the event to share their stories and memories of working on the steam locomotives. Hear their stories below.
Special thank you to David Threlfo for volunteering his time to capture these videos of the 10 Class restoration journey and history.
